REID & HARRISON COMPANY BACKGROUND

Reid & Harrison (1980) Ltd have been in the business of successfully pumping liquid / solid slurries for over 50 years.

Bob Dalley took over directorship of Reid & Harrison (1980) Ltd after 20 years working for the company, including a large input into the development of the original Yardmaster pump, and still maintains an active role in the company. He was joined by his son, Seaton Dalley as co-director in 1993. The third generation, Clayton started in the business in 2023 continuing the family legacy.

Along with 32 staff, many of whom have in excess of 10 years experience with Reid & Harrison, they have pushed the Yardmaster product to the leading position in the New Zealand market. As requirements have altered in the industry, Reid & Harrison (1980) Ltd have continued to develop the Yardmaster range to stay at the top.

In 2013 the business had outgrown the Peria road site. A large modern industrial complex was sought and acquired at 1 Waihou Street which has good road access and continues the high Matamata profile previously enjoyed. Reid and Harrison moved onto site in February 2014 and now has much improved physical space and materials handling capability to increase the service offering to their customers. The site is situated on a 1.66 hectare of land. This is covered by around 7,700 square meters of building and includes: Full stainless manufacturing capability including brake press and guillotine; State of the art test pool with full automation to plot pump flow curves accurately; Drive through stores with a 8 tonne gantry; Fabrication and repairs area with three 5 tonne overhead gantries. Welding and metal forming equipment; Machine shop with 3 CNC lathes and 1CNC mill; Modern offices with conference and meeting rooms.

As part of the strategy to grow the service and capabilities, R&H have set up a nationwide Certified Dealer Network. With access to Yardmaster product training, technical support and product information, The Certified Dealers have the might of the full Yardmaster organisation supporting them.

R&H also in 2014 acquired a stainless steel business (formerly ISD) that included intellectual property for Separation products. These separators have complemented the existing product range enabling full system design and supply. This business has been rebranded Reid & Harrison Stainless and mainly supplies both food grade as well as Dairy Effluent Separation products.

In 2016, R&H acquired the local Certified Dealer business of Environmental Technologies Ltd. which included a pond, herd home pumping capability as well as trenching. The business is also Dairy NZ certified for Farm Dairy Effluent design. This business has been rebranded Reid & Harrison Services and now focuses on the wider Matamata/Walton area servicing all the local customer needs from effluent system maintenance , to full installations.

Also in 2016, a strategic supply agreement was entered with TAG I.T for a combined development and launch of a Supersmart effluent monitoring and control system under the Yardmaster HALO brand. This cloud based system enables full control of pump speed and thus flow and pressures to match the varying requirments in a farm situation.

In March 2019, Reid & Harrison bought the Morrinsville based Pond Pumping business from Hitech. With two complete pond pumping systems and a further 4 staff to operate these, they combined with existing Matamata Pond pumping System and two tanking units R&H already had.

The Yardmaster products are exported with main markets being Australia, Uruguay, Ireland, UK and Chile.
