We recently had the pleasure of hosting a group of 15 Argentine visitors on a farm tour arranged by Waikato Milking Systems. The group, made up primarily of farmers and accompanied by a commercial director from a major international agricultural supply company, spent the morning with us to gain firsthand insight into how effluent is managed in New Zealand.
Our discussions centered around the efficiency and sustainability of the Yardmaster product range, designed to handle effluent in a way that benefits both the environment and farm operations. Visitors were particularly interested in how New Zealand farmers integrate effluent management into their daily routines and how these systems improve pasture health and soil fertility.
One of the trip’s highlights was an in-depth discussion on Kiwi farming methods, hosted by Rod McKinnon on his farm, just south of Matamata. Rod, with his wealth of experience, provided valuable insights into the unique challenges and advantages of farming in New Zealand. His openness and practical knowledge made for a lively exchange of ideas, with visitors keen to compare their own practices to those used here.
A big thank you to Rod for being such a fantastic host. His generosity and expertise ensured our Argentine guests left with a deeper understanding of New Zealand’s approach to effluent management and sustainable farming.
